Aiming to transform urban transportation with a sustainable option, domestic drone manufacturer Darsh Dronobotics has joined hands with Trouve Innovation Hub of Canada to secure funding for hydrogen-powered air taxis.
On Saturday, Indian drone manufacturer Darsh Dronobotics Systems announced a partnership with Canada-based Trouve Innovation Hub to develop a hydrogen-powered five-seater air taxi.
In this partnership, Trouve Innovation will help Darsh secure the funding needed to create a full-scale prototype of the hydrogen air taxi. The project is expected to redefine urban transportation by offering an eco-friendly and more efficient alternative to traditional travel methods.
According to the company, this collaboration aims to address climate change and cut carbon emissions in the transportation and aviation sectors. However, no financial information about this deal was disclosed.
Vjaitra Air Mobility, a subsidiary of Darsh Dronobotics, has forged this alliance. Ratandeep Tripathi, CEO of Vjaitra Air Mobility, commented that Trouve Innovation’s fundraising assistance aligns with the company’s aim to support India’s goal of achieving net zero emissions and its ambition to lead the air taxi revolution by 2025.
These air taxis are anticipated to provide quieter flights, zero emissions, and lower operational costs than conventional aircraft. They will be capable of travelling up to 600 kilometres, facilitating trips between Delhi-NCR and Lucknow, as well as other state capitals and major city airports.
Trouve Innovation Hub will help secure necessary funding through its network of private investors, government grants, and institutional backing. This support will enable Darsh Dronobotics Systems to speed up development and bring the hydrogen air taxi closer to commercialisation.
With India’s growing population and rapid urbanisation, the introduction of hydrogen-based air taxis is expected to address issues of road congestion, traffic, and pollution in Indian cities. They will also be used for ambulance services, VIP transport, and disaster response, enhancing urban air mobility and emergency capabilities.
Faruk Rama, CEO of Trouve Innovation Hub, stated that joining forces will benefit both cities and communities globally by developing sustainable transportation.
