It will enable EV users to locate charging points across Delhi, says Gahlot
With the aim to bring all the electric vehicle players on a common platform, the government of NCT of Delhi has launched an open database facility for EV charging and battery-swapping stations. The database, available on its Switch Delhi portal will give open access to over 2,500 charging points currently installed in the city. The official said that all the EV players can further develop platforms to provide seamless information about charging and battery-swapping stations to all EV users in Delhi.
“In 2021, the government came up with an open database for bus transit, which was a big success. The same is being used by Google, Uber and many more. With the launch of the open database for EV charging, Delhi is making a move towards solving the biggest problem of EV users, which is range anxiety”, said Kailash Gahlot, the Transport Minister of Delhi. He further added, “It will enable them to use their favourite apps to locate more than 2,500 charging points and battery-swapping stations across Delhi and the number is expected to reach 18,000 by 2025.”
The officials informed that the database is accessible to registered entities and individuals. They can submit and retrieve past as well as real-time data related to public charging and swapping infrastructure with the help of the ev.delhi.gov.in/openev portal.
As per the Delhi EV policy notified in 2020, it will be mandatory for all entities operating public and/or semi-public EV charging or swapping stations to submit data to the open database within three weeks of the notification of the order.
