e-con Systems Achieves IATF 16949 Certification for Automotive Camera Portfolio

The certification also extends quality requirements across e-con Systems’ supplier base, strengthening supply-chain quality management.

e-con Systems has recently received the IATF 16949:2016 certification to supply automotive-grade camera solutions to OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.

IATF 16949:2016 is an automotive-specific quality management standard built on ISO 9001 principles, with additional requirements focused on defect prevention, process variation reduction and continual improvement. The certification formally positions e-con Systems within the global automotive supply chain under an automotive-specific quality framework.

The certification covers e-con Systems’ automotive camera portfolio, including forward-facing, rear-view, surround-view and driver monitoring cameras. The company’s cameras are also validated on platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson, supporting development from prototyping to production.

As part of the certification process, e-con Systems has strengthened several areas of its quality management system, including lifecycle-wide risk management, product safety and special-characteristic controls, customer-specific requirements and error-proofing.

The company has also introduced more structured links between product design and manufacturing requirements, supporting design for manufacturability (DFM), consistency and product quality. Processes such as Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) are being used to support the transition from product development to manufacturing.

The certification also extends quality requirements across e-con Systems’ supplier base, strengthening supply-chain quality management.

“As autonomous vehicles and intelligent machines increasingly depend on vision to perceive and respond to the world around them, the quality and reliability of every camera we design and manufacture become mission-critical,” said Ashok Babu, President, e-con Systems.

He added that the company is also developing ISO 26262 functional-safety-compliant cameras for automotive and mobility applications. According to e-con Systems, combining IATF 16949 certification with ISO 26262 development efforts will help address both automotive-grade quality and functional safety requirements.

The certification strengthens its focus on risk prevention, process robustness, product reliability and continuous improvement as demand grows for vision systems in autonomous vehicles and intelligent mobility applications.
