e-con Systems’ cameras will use ADI’s advanced technology to provide a plethora of imaging solutions.
Last week, e-con Systems, a Chennai-based electronics manufacturer announced a partnership with US-based chip maker Analog Devices (ADI).
As the company stated in its official LinkedIn post, this collaboration will facilitate e-con’s provision of various visual solutions using ADI’s Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link (GMSL™) technology.
The agreement will enable the integration of e-con Systems’ camera solutions with ADI’s GMSL technology, which will be used for various applications, including ADAS, intelligent traffic systems, warehouse automation, AMRs, smart retail, and others.
e-con further claimed that GMSL technology ensures dependable connectivity, minimal delay, and high frame rates, making it the preferred choice for such applications. It is advantageous in scenarios where long cable lengths of approximately 15 metres from the host processor are needed.
Regarding the deal, Mieu Ngan Pang, Senior Director of Ecosystem Strategy and Marketing, Automotive Cabin Experience BU at ADI, noted on LinkedIn, “The partnership aims to provide our customers with a broad portfolio of GMSL-based cameras to address the trends for high-resolution perception and robust embedded vision solutions.”
A few months before, e-con Systems entered a similar collaboration with Lattice Semiconductor at the Embedded Vision Summit 2024 in Santa Clara, California.
Founded in 2003, e-con Systems specialises in embedded vision technology, offering custom and off-the-shelf camera solutions. With a team of over 300 engineers, their cameras are integrated into 350+ products worldwide, with annual shipments totalling 2 million units. Their applications span robotics, medical diagnostics, and drones, and their product lineup includes MIPI, GMSL, and USB 3.1 Gen 1 cameras. These cameras feature HDR and global shutter options, available from 2MP to 18MP resolutions.
