The Directorate of Technical Education has announced that state-owned polytechnic colleges in Tamil Nadu will be establishing centres for electric mobility in the near future.
According to information from the Directorate of Technical Education, the Tamil Nadu government’s primary purpose for these centres is to train polytechnic students regarding the latest technological advancements. The Directorate of Technical Education has informed that the initial centre will be set up at the Government Polytechnic for Women in Coimbatore. Students enrolled there will receive training in cutting-edge technologies related to electric mobility.
The state government has unveiled its intention to invest INR 50,000 crore in EV manufacturing, aiming to generate 1.5 lakh job opportunities.
The Tamil Nadu government has strongly committed to incorporating electric mobility education into the academic structure. As part of this initiative, students enrolled in diploma courses will now have the chance to receive training in electric vehicles. This endeavour is not limited to basic training; the strategy involves seamlessly integrating EV education into the curriculum of polytechnic diploma programs.
Officials from the Directorate of Technical Education have indicated that specific funds will be allocated to facilitate the implementation of courses at EV mobility centres situated within polytechnic institutions.
Furthermore, the department is actively considering plans to update the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) located throughout the state.
