Electronics India News: New Arduino UNO R4 Boards Unveiled: The Future of Electronics Design

element14 amplifies its UNO portfolio with R4 Minima and Wi-Fi versions, boasting 3x performance surge and IoT capabilities.

element14, a recognised leader in electronics distribution, has just broadened its offering with the launch of two state-of-the-art Arduino UNO R4 boards: the UNO R4 Minima and UNO R4 Wi-Fi. Set to be available across EMEA, North America, and APAC, these additions promise to reshape how designers, from novices to experts, view performance and cost-effectiveness in the electronics design sphere.

The R4 variants introduce a powerful 32-bit architecture based on the revered UNO lineage. They harbor the Renesas RA4M1 32-bit Cortex-M4 processor, ensuring a significant hike in processing might, memory capacity, and multi-functionality.

The UNO R4 Minima focuses on designers seeking the pinnacle of microcontroller speed without unnecessary extras. Its onboard SWD pins simplify connections to third-party debugging probes, ensuring flawless system functionality.

Not just about processing prowess, the R4 Wi-Fi incorporates an Espressif ESP32-S3-mini co-processor. It facilitates robust Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, becoming a linchpin for Internet of Things projects.

Both R4 boards benefit from the following:

  • A 3x performance rises courtesy of the Renesas RA4M1 processor.
  • Memory upgrades: 2kB to 32kB SRAM, and 32kB to 256kB flash memory.
  • Notable additions like 12-bit analogue DAC, USB-C port, and CAN bus.

Additionally, the Wi-Fi variant offers low-energy Bluetooth/Wi-Fi and a 12×8 LED matrix, among other features.

Romain Soreau, Head of Single Board Computing at element14, opines, “The UNO R4 board propels designers, regardless of their experience level, into a world of enhanced performance, turning potential applications into realities.”

Keith Jackson from Arduino Marketing emphasizes the strengthening bond with element14, projecting an optimistic outlook for designers globally.

Arduino, the open-source titan, continues to be at the heart of myriad projects. With the release of the Arduino UNO R4 boards, its alliance with global distributors like element14 ensures that groundbreaking tech reaches the hands of creators everywhere.
