India’s envoy to the US says AI, semiconductors, biotechnology and electronics will play a major role in strengthening bilateral trade and supply chain partnerships.
Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, biotechnology and electronics will shape the next phase of India-US economic cooperation, India’s Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra said, highlighting increasing opportunities in trade, manufacturing and supply chains.
Speaking at the USISPF Leadership Summit, Kwatra said India has positioned itself as a preferred destination for companies looking to diversify production and build resilient global supply chains beyond traditional manufacturing hubs.
He noted that India has significantly increased investments in strategic sectors including semiconductors, electronics, clean energy and defence manufacturing, strengthening its role in global value chains.
According to the Economic times, Kwatra said India, currently a $4.3 trillion economy, is on track to become a $7 trillion economy by 2030, around $14 trillion by the mid-2030s, and potentially $25–30 trillion by 2047.
Describing India as an “indispensable anchor” for global economic growth amid geopolitical uncertainty, he said India’s economic transformation has made it a trusted growth engine for both advanced and emerging economies.
“India’s rise is increasingly intertwined with global prosperity, making international partnerships more important than ever,” Kwatra said.
Referring to the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, he said the strategy is mainly focused on building globally competitive manufacturing and resilient supply chains rather than economic isolation.
