A Stoke-on-Trent engineering establishment is producing 15 new jobs with plans for a major factory expansion. Fletcher Moorland plans to expand its Elenora Street base, in Stoke, by a further 8,500 square feet this year. The business has been established at its current site since 1953 and has grown over the years as the company has developed, most recently with a new storehouse in 2009. Now the latest move will see Fletcher Moorland expand its town centre presence even further.
“In September we will be knocking through one of our walls and adding a further 8,500 sq ft to our workshop space. My grandfather started the business in 1946, in Hanley, and in 1953 he moved to Stoke town, that’s where we are today. We’ve grown on this site since, with my father adding to our main electro-mechanical workshop. In July 1997 we moved our electronics and servo motor repair facility, and in 2009 we added a further warehouse for motor storage and distribution. And in the next few months, we’ll be adding to it again,” said Managing director Matt Fletcher of Fletcher Moorland.
Fletcher Moorland is an industrial components repair business. Its speciality is in sub-contract electric motor restorations for customers in some of the UK’s most critical enterprises including manufacturing, energy production, transportation and healthcare. The move will see it develop its servo and specialist motor restoration workshop and its electronics and automation restoration workshop and migrate its project engineering department into the new area. And 15 new jobs are expected to be created, taking the company’s total workforce to more than 100 employees.
“The really exciting bit is that we’re creating more jobs. We’ll initially be looking to create around 15 roles and there will be opportunities for apprentices too. We will be looking for electrical and/or mechanical fitters, automation project engineers, IT and software graduates, electronics engineers and electric motor rewinders. In fact, I’d like to hear from anyone who wants to work with their hands, anyone who has a great attitude towards learning and anyone who is curious about how stuff works and wants to get into engineering. There is a great team here and we do some fantastic things,” added Matt.
