Foxconn ties up with mozilla to develop firefox 0S tablets

Thursday, January 09, 2014: Foxconn, world’s leading manufacturer of computer components and systems, today announced its tie up with Mozilla to develop tablets based on Firefox OS tablets. Taiwan-based chipmaker VIA Technologies will be joining the project.

This partnership is aimed at offering hardware, software and application designers opportunities to develop Firefox OS-based products. Mozilla will provide operating system (OS), development guides and OS upgrades and maintenance, while Foxconn will provide its expertise in developing hardware platforms.

With Foxconn’s high-quality and inexpensive tablets and Mozilla’s broadly available software Firefox OS, the product could become one among the top players in tablet market, especially in developing countries.
