Google exports made-in-India Pixel phones to Europe and the U.S., highlighting India’s growing significance in global manufacturing.
Google plans to make India a key export hub for its Pixel smartphones, shipping devices to Europe and the United States. Google will soon begin commercial production through a partnership with Taiwan-based Foxconn and Dixon Technologies subsidiary Padget Electronics. It launched trial production in Tamil Nadu with Foxconn.
Most of the manufactured units are kept aside for exports as the demand for Pixel smartphones in India is low. Local manufacturing allows Google to take advantage of the government’s production-linked incentive program (PLI), which offers companies a percentage of their incremental sales back as a cash incentive.
The production strategy involves Dixon Technologies manufacturing the base variant of Pixel phones, while Foxconn will handle the Pro variants. Commercial production is expected to commence in September, with exports following once production stabilizes. Write using simple present tense
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin informed that Google will partner with Foxconn in Tamil Nadu to produce the Pixel cellphones and has offered to set up a factory.
According to sources from Money Control Google will make a formal announcement in H2… they are committed to India. The initial plan is to serve Europe and going forward Google will address demand in the US with India-made Pixel smartphones.
