Tuesday, December 30, 2014: A PTI report has claimed that the government is expected by Assocham to take necessary steps to develop large scale manufacturing zones. For this purpose, the government need to offer fiscal sops and promote the domestic electronics industry.
As per the industry chamber, they have welcomed the step that government procurement is focusing on domestic electronics products now. But it would be more perfect, if the electronics industry gets a comprehensive package on their goods and the country doesn’t need to rely on imports anymore. Assocham has reported that in the entire IT package, electronics industry along with computer hardware have remained missing for a long time.
In a conversation with PTI, Assocham president Rana Kapoor told fiscal sops are necessary to develop large-scale manufacturing zones and procedures should also be relaxed to promote the electronics industry. As per a PMP statement, as reported by PTI, “A Committee of Secretaries has decided that all Ministries and Departments should identify department-specific, domestically-manufactured electronic products for procurement and notify them within a fortnight.”
PM Narendra Modi’s Make in India initiative, all ministries and government departments will prefer domestically-manufactured electronic products during government procurement.
