March 18, 2015: The Government has a proposal to Scale up Grid Connected Solar Power Projects from 20,000MW to 1,00,000MW by 2022 under National Solar Mission (NSM). The plan of action to achieve the target is under preparation. Piyush Goyal, Minister of state for Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy (IC) informed this is in the parliament.
The Minister further stated that PricewaterhouseCoopers Pvt Ltd has been engaged as a consultant for formulation of solar energy scale up plan. Their role is therefore, limited to the contract with them. Some of the work to be undertaken by PwC are as under :
i. To assess the power scenario of India and analyse the efficacy of on-going initiatives by MNRE.
ii. Bring out a realistic demand projection and capacity addition plan
iii. Evaluate likelihood of attainment of grid parity
iv. Analyse the robustness of existing evacuation system to handle the planned capacity addition
v. Estimate the likely capital requirement for meeting capacity addition
vi. Gather feedback of relevant stakeholders
vii. To develop a holistic plan to achieve the objective the objective
