Guwahati has recently announced that the first-ever “Renewable Energy and Electric Vehicle Expo” to be held from January 19 to 21.
This expo will be organized by the Federation of Industry and Commerce of North Eastern Region (Finer) and supported by various ministries. The agenda of this expo is to demonstrate cutting-edge technologies, products, and services in the field of renewable energy and electric vehicles.
The expo will be a great platform to explore transformative technologies, ranging from solar panels to electric vehicles and charging infrastructure.
The event will serve as a platform for exhibitors to showcase their innovations and as an opportunity to educate the public about the benefits and potential of renewable energy.
There are many people who feel that the Northeast region has no climatic conditions for solar energy production. Mrinal Krishna Choudhury, former director of Assam Energy Development Agency, pointed out that Assam can produce electricity through solar energy despite its higher rainfall compared to states like Rajasthan. Choudhury emphasised debunking these misconceptions and motivating people to embrace renewable energy.
The expo will also offer training sessions for farmers and the general public on utilising solar power in different sectors, including agriculture. These sessions will provide practical insights and hands-on learning about renewable energy technologies like solar power, wind turbines, and biomass energy.
By organizing this expo, Guwahati hopes to inspire a shift towards renewable energy in the region and encourage the development of a skilled workforce in the field. With the participation of key stakeholders and the dissemination of knowledge and information, the event aims to accelerate the adoption of sustainable energy practices in Assam and the northeast.
