Major investment in advanced R&D cleanrooms aims to streamline chip qualification and accelerate time-to-market for international clients.
IT services giant HCLTech has unveiled a new ₹185-crore (approximately $19.5 million) semiconductor testing facility in Bengaluru, designed to speed up product innovation and shorten development cycles for its global clientele.
Spanning 40,000 square feet, the state-of-the-art Advanced Semiconductor Lab houses 25,000 square feet of Class 10K and Class 1K cleanrooms. The centre is built to deliver end-to-end post-silicon engineering services, including automated electrical testing, post-production qualification, and detailed failure analysis.
The facility has been fitted out with advanced diagnostic and testing equipment from leading global suppliers, including Teradyne, Advantest, Keysight, Tektronix, and Thermo Fisher Scientific. By integrating these systems under one roof, HCLTech aims to reduce testing complexity and improve turnaround times for complex microchip architectures.
Operating under the company’s “Spec2Parts” commercial model, the laboratory offers a unified framework that guides semiconductor designs seamlessly from initial functional specifications through to fully validated, production-ready components.
Hari Sadarahalli, corporate vice president and global head of engineering and R&D services at HCLTech, described the facility as a significant milestone for the firm that reinforces India’s expanding role in high-end semiconductor engineering and R&D.
