Foxconn to Deploy Humanoid Robots in Texas AI Server Production 

The Taiwanese electronics giant is preparing to begin small-scale AI server production at its Texas facility, using robotics technologies developed with Nvidia. 

Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., known globally as Foxconn, is the world’s largest contract server manufacturer; it is expected to begin small-volume production of artificial intelligence (AI) servers at its Texas facility within the next two months, according to a report by the Taipei Times.

The facility will handle back-end assembly and system integration, including Level 10 and Level 11 assembly processes, according to a source familiar with the matter. The production line is expected to use humanoid robots and industrial robotic arms developed in collaboration with Nvidia.

Foxconn is reportedly testing multiple types of robotic systems across its US server manufacturing facilities rather than relying on a single automation platform. The company is evaluating both conventional industrial robots and humanoid systems for server production.

Hon Hai chairman Young Liu had previously announced plans to work with Nvidia on a next-generation smart AI server manufacturing facility at the company’s Houston plant. The facility is expected to be among the early manufacturing sites to deploy humanoid robots powered by Nvidia’s Isaac GR00T N model.

Foxconn operates several manufacturing facilities in the US. Its Houston plant produces smartphones and AI servers, while its Wisconsin facility focuses on server manufacturing. The company’s Ohio facility adjusts its production based on customer orders and testing requirements for new products, including electric vehicles, automotive components and batteries.

The Taiwanese company has also partnered with Intrinsic, Google’s robotics software subsidiary, to develop AI-powered smart factories. Applications from the collaboration have reportedly already been deployed at Foxconn’s US factories for server manufacturing.

Separately, Hon Hai is participating in an initiative led by the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association to establish overseas high-tech parks. Proposed locations include the US, Mexico, India and the Philippines.

Mexico is currently moving fastest on site selection. In the US, Texas and Arizona are under consideration, with Arizona expected to attract semiconductor supply chain companies, while Texas could draw businesses involved in AI, electric vehicles (EVs), new energy and electronics manufacturing.
