The UAE has been ranked as the top destination for the export of electronics goods into the Middle East for the fiscal year 2015-16, followed by Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
Electronics goods export to Middle East Countries during 2015-16 is valued at $1.06 billion while export of software and related services to Middle East stood at $2 billion.
Kamal Vachani, regional director for Middle East at Electronics & Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), an autonomous body under the auspices of the Indian Ministry of Communications and IT, said the Middle East continues to enjoy solid growth rates despite a global slowdown.
To take advantage of the export scenario and further strengthen ties with the region, he said that ESC is fielding 48 Indian ICT companies under the India Pavilion.
The Tech event is continuing to emerge as the largest and the most impressive ICT event of its kind in the Middle East. Vachani said that ESC has been facilitating Indian participation on a regular basis at Gitex to take advantage of the booming IT market in the Gulf and leveraging that association for getting businesses for Indian IT companies from a multitude of large global corporations, which are executing projects in the region
Vachani added that India has a great stake in the booming Middle East, Africa, Asia and European markets for which Dubai is the gateway.
Thus the event provides participating Indian ICT companies with a chance to scout for opportunities in the expanding Middle East market.He said there was a growing level of interest among Indian companies eager to explore the Middle East and neighbouring countries.
India pavilion is expected to be inaugurated by Anurag Bhushan, Consul-General of India, Dubai, and Dr. Juma Al Matroushi, Deputy CEO for operations and clients affairs at Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority.
