These projects, acquired through Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB), will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis, with a 35-year contractual period and a combined capital expenditure of over INR 1,000 crores.

IndiGrid made a significant announcement regarding its latest endeavours. The company revealed that it has been awarded Letters of Intent (LOI) from REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited for the construction of two groundbreaking inter-state transmission projects, successfully secured through the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) mechanism. These projects will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis, with a contractual period spanning 35 years. The estimated total capital expenditure for both projects is in excess of INR 1,000 crores, and they are slated to be completed within approximately 24 months each.

The first project, expected to generate annual transmission charges of approximately INR 530 million post-commissioning, is designed to facilitate the efficient evacuation of power from the Dhule 2GW renewable energy zone. This undertaking encompasses the construction of a 400/220 kV pooling station boasting a capacity of 4×500 MVA, in addition to a 400 kV D/C line spanning approximately 70 kilometers. In parallel, the second project is set to deliver annual transmission charges of around INR 625 million upon completion. This project is aimed at establishing the Western Region Expansion Scheme XXXIII (WRES-XXXIII) Part-C, featuring the construction of two substations in Madhya Pradesh. These substations comprise a 765/400 kV substation with a capacity of 2×1500 MVA and a 400/220 kV substation with a capacity of 2×500 MVA.

This project entails the creation of a LILO single circuit 765 kV D/C line spanning roughly 18 kilometers. The substations are strategically designed to cater to various electricity demands, including powering the proposed green hydrogen plant in the vicinity, serving loads in Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, and Jatara areas, as well as facilitating the interconnection of the 630 MW NTPC Barethi Solar Plant. In response to this significant acquisition, Harsh Shah, the Chief Executive Officer and Whole Time Director of IndiGrid, shared his perspective, stating, “India’s transmission sector is currently experiencing remarkable growth to meet the escalating energy demand and the increased evacuation requirements from existing and forthcoming renewable energy generation centers.
