Innovative showcasing by SIPLACE

Srabani Sen from Munich

At the ongoing international trade fair at Munich (Germany), SIPLACE showcased its innovations uniquely through live demonstrations. Some manufacturing challenges were given to the SIPLACE team at their booth at Productronica, and through live demonstrations SIPLACE resolved the problems in certain time frame though its customised solutions for different customer applications.

SIPLACE SX4 and SX2 were also on display along with other products at Productronica Munich 2011. SIPLACE SX4 has high speed addition to the ‘capacity on demand’ models. With a placement speed of up to 135,000 cph and maximum real life performance due to i-placement along the entire line, the machine also has shop floor efficiency with 25 per cent more placement performance per square metre, said a SIPLACE team member.

SIPLACE’s new partners in India
SIPLACE has signed two strategic partnerships with two agents in India—-Maxim SMT and Edgetech Automation. Edgetech Automation is a division of Leaptech Corporation and Unisert machines. “Both partnerships will further strengthen SIPLACE’s position in the Indian market as a leading SMT provider in Asia,” says Jack Chua, CEO of ASM Assembly Systems Singapore.

The Chinese SIPLACE team has been integrated into the global cluster of ASM Assembly System, which formally completes the acquisition by ASMPT. “ASMPT is now poised for SMT market leadership, especially with the emergence of key markets like China and India,” says WK Lee, CEO, ASM Pacific Technology (ASMPT).

Assembléon launches iFlex
Assembleon introduced its new A-Series hybrid pick and place machine—iFlex at the trade fair. “It is a complete new intelligent and flexible SMT solution for electronics manufacturers, especially designed to increase productivity in high-product mix environments by more than 30 per cent,” says Nina Eichinger of Assembléon. “iFlex produces the highest board quality since it uses Assembléon’s unique single pick/single place technology, giving the industry’s highest first pass yield production levels with defect levels of less than 10 DPM,” she adds. She explained that the modular iFlex is not only easy to install, but supported by smart software tools also easy to program without hardware reconfiguration. Featuring dual transport lanes, dual sided feeding, internal buffer positions and feeder and trolley exchanges during production, iFlex has been designed for highest throughput.

Innovative SMT machines at Juki booth
Juki showcased a range of new products at Productronica 2011—KE-3010 and KE-3020V models, both with an extensive component range and plenty of room for 8mm tape feeders. KE-3020V has MDS wafer feeder module, which allows to expand the component range and to assemble components such as flip chips, dies and other semiconductor components directly from a wafer or a pallet. A built-in flipper allows the components to be processed face up or down. Its new Sentry system combines RCFA tool with visual traceability. Newly developed, ultra small cameras in the pick and place head record, in real time, all pick and placement action for immediate analysis of the process in combination with a data storage system. A unique AOI system integrated in the pick and place system was also at display. This ensures that only 100 per cent correctly assembled boards will be transferred to the next machine.
