A team of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) led by it’s capacity building chief Dr P V Venkatakrishnan called on Agartala’s Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday and apprised him about ISRO initiatives in the state and northeast region.
In the meeting they informed the chief minister that a Technology Incubation Centre in NIT Agartala would be set up, jointly by ISRO and India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), the premier trade body, representing the Indian electronic system design and manufacturing, reported Times of India.
Dr Venkatakrishnan formally invited the chief minister to the centre’s inauguration to be held on September 18 next. The inauguration will be, however, done by Dr K Shivan in Bangalore by ISRO chairman. Around 500 companies from defense and aerospace sector will participate in the program.
In Tripura many companies expressed interest of investing in cyber city, data centre, smart city, the visiting team informed the chief minister. To increase awareness about space science among the youth in the state it was decided to open a ‘space museum’in the future.
The chief minister assured all kind of help to ISRO, if they wanted to take any initiative for development of space research and employment generation in the state.
