Reliance Jio has introduced JioMotive, an on-board diagnostic (OBD) device aimed at upgrading traditional cars into smart cars, offering a connected-car experience without the need for built-in advanced features. JioMotive is a user-friendly, plug-and-play device that requires no professional setup, making it accessible for owners of older or basic model vehicles.
Traditional vehicle companies can provide this as an upgrade. It is a more economic substitute to car automation, making smart vehicles more affordable. It has annual service charges of INR500 post one year.
There are some OBD devices that can be used for two-wheelers also. Although, there is no mention of that in JioMotive description. The product is available on Reliance Digital platform at a discounted rate.
The device provides real-time analytics on various car performance metrics such as location, engine health, and driving patterns. With JioMotive, users gain the benefit of real-time vehicle tracking, allowing them to monitor their car’s location and movements at any moment, which is particularly useful when the vehicle is being used by others.
