The government also shared plans to create a digital government model centred on improving the citizen experience
The Kerala government has recently shared a restructuring plan of its technology ecosystem. The agenda behind this plan is to make the state at the forefront of emerging technologies and digital innovation.
Another development has also been announced, where the Electronics & IT Department will be renamed the IT, Future Technologies and Start-ups Department and will operate under the new brand identity “Kerala Tech.”
The announcement was made in the Governor’s Policy Address in the State Assembly on Friday.
In another major move, the Kerala IT Mission will be renamed the Digital Transformation Mission, integrating the Kerala AI Mission and the Kerala Emerging Technologies Mission into a unified framework. The plan is to expand digital adoption and strengthen Kerala’s capabilities in advanced technologies.
To further strengthen the state’s ambitions in electronics manufacturing and chip production, the government will establish an Electronics and Semiconductor Mission. The new mission will focus on promoting investments, innovation and ecosystem development in the semiconductor sector.
The government also shared plans to create a digital government model centred on improving citizen experience. By leveraging digital technologies and artificial intelligence, the state sets and agenda to enhance public service delivery, streamline governance processes and build a more efficient and citizen-friendly administration.
The initiatives showcase Kerala’s broader strategy to strengthen its position as a leading technology and innovation hub while fostering growth in future-ready sectors such as AI, semiconductors and start-ups.
