LG Electronics plans to grow its robotics business through mergers and acquisitions. Over the past few years, LG Electronics has been actively expanding its presence in the robotics sector.
They established the Robotics Business Center in 2018 and later transferred the business to the BS Division in 2020. In 2022, they set up a dedicated overseas sales organisation and, in 2023, created a company-in-company (CIC) within the BS division to advance their robotics initiatives further.
Jang Ik-hwan, head of the BS Division at LG Electronics said, the company had identified the robotics business as a potential candidate for M&A deals, with the focus on robotics’ delivery and logistics aspects.
LG Electronics has reaffirmed its commitment to exploring equity investment or M&A opportunities in line with CEO Cho Joo-wan’s recent statement.
The LG Business Innovation Center (BIC), based in Los Angeles, plays a pivotal role in promoting LG Electronics’ business-to-business (B2B) solutions. It serves as a hub for showcasing B2B products and solutions to customers prior to their official release. Additionally, LG Electronics offers opportunities for customers to experience B2B products in various locations, including Washington DC, Chicago, Atlanta, and New Jersey, apart from Los Angeles.
