The Panaji government will soon formulate a State Electronics Policy, with the help of Manufacture Association of Information Technology (MAIT), an all India association of information technology and electronics companies.Coming out with this information, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said that MAIT will also help the government in attracting electronic industries to the proposed Electronic City, at Tuyem, in Pernem taluka.
Speaking further, the Chief Minister said that the state cabinet, at its meeting on Wednesday gave ex post facto approval for the memorandum of understanding, recently signed between the government of Goa and the government of Telangana, for working together in the field of IT development. He pointed out that under this agreement, the Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) will also help Goa in the development of IT-related skills.
Parsekar, who headed the cabinet meeting stated.The Chief Minister also said that the state will further receive help from the Telangana government to set up a Goa Technology Hub, at the proposed IT Park, coming up at Chimbel.
The cabinet has further given its nod for setting up a functional secretariat for the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) Summit, to be held in Goa next month, so as to take real time administrative and financial decisions pertaining to the international event, Parsekar revealed informing that the secretariat will be chaired by him.
Furthermore, the cabinet gave its nod to 16 appointments at the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer.It was also hinted that the Chief Secretary R K Srivastava, whose extension in service ends on September 30, 2016, would be given another extension.
