After two manufacturing factories, Maruti may soon set up third unit at Sohna within the area of 1400 acres
Maruti may soon set up a third manufacturing factory in Haryana as the state government of Khattar is likely to allot 1,400 acres of land at Sohna. The company has its first manufacturing factory in Gurgaon spreading over 300 acres of land and a 600-acre Manesar factory which was set up in 2007.
Plans to allot 1,400 acres of land
Well, the 1,400 acres of land was part of 1,700 acres that the Haryana State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Agency (HSIIDC) had acquired in 2011 with an aim to establish a new industrial township. When the land was acquired, it was planned to develop the Industrial Model Township (IMT) in Sohna under the public-private partnership (PPP) policy.
Manohar Lal Khattar, CM of Haryana chaired a meeting which was attended by Public Work Department (PWD) minister Rao Narbir Singh, Vipul Goel industry minister, R C Bhargava who is Maruti Suzuki India chief, Devender Singh who is an additional chief secretary (industries), T L Satyaprakash who is HSIIDC managing director and other officials were present to take the decision.
As per the initial plan, the state government had decided to involve private players through the e-auction route but now after the meeting, it seems the state government may give the land to Maruti through direct allotment. Well, if we talk about the price of the land then senior officials present in the meeting were seen to have favoured bidding in order to get the best possible price.
Moreover, it was almost decided that the Maruti will be given the entire land falling under IMT Sohna which is currently in HSIIDC’s possession. The issue will be raised in the state cabinet as the move will speed up development in Haryana.
