Bharti mentioned that they are exporting battery cells and modules to advanced countries in Europe and expect to reach nearly INR 750 crore in exports of lithium-ion advanced chemistry cells, battery packs, and modules this financial year.
Maruti Suzuki India is gearing up to export Electric Vehicles (EVs) from India starting this year, following their domestic launch, according to a top official of the company. They are also aiming to export lithium-ion battery cells and modules, anticipating exports worth around INR 750 crore in this fiscal year. Rahul Bharti, Maruti Suzuki India’s Executive Director, revealed at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit that exports of EVs to nations such as Europe and Japan are set to commence this year. He also mentioned that the company is currently exporting battery cells and modules to advanced countries, particularly in Europe, and is on track to achieve nearly INR 750 crore in exports of these items within the financial year.
Automotive Electronics Power Private Ltd (AEPPL), a joint venture involving Japan’s TOSHIBA Corporation, Denso Corporation, and Suzuki Motor Corporation, operates a lithium-ion battery facility in Hansalpur, Gujarat. Maruti Suzuki sources the cells and modules from this joint venture for its exports.
On Thursday, the company announced plans to invest INR 38,200 crore to establish a second plant in Gujarat and to add a fourth production line at the Suzuki Motor Gujarat plant. The new plant is expected to have a production capacity of 10 lakh units per year, while the fourth line will increase the annual production capacity at Suzuki Motor Gujarat from 7.5 lakh to 10 lakh units.
Toshihiro Suzuki, President of Suzuki Motor Corporation, stated on Wednesday that the Suzuki Group’s first Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) is slated to roll out from the Suzuki Motor Gujarat by the end of this year. He added that this model is intended for sale not only in India but also for export to Japan and European countries.
