Taiwan-based integrated circuit designer MediaTek Inc. announced Monday that it will hold a program to help train mobile phone design talent from India for the second time next year.
According to Grant Kuo, managing director of MediaTek’s subsidiary in India, the program was so well received in November 2016 that a more advanced level program will be offered in January 2018.
The program will be sponsored by the Indian government, which covers accommodation and living expenses for students from India.
Headquartered in Hsinchu City, the tech firm will bring in instructors from Taiwanese companies in the mobile phone arena to give lessons.
Kuo said the program, which is part of an effort to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the mobile phone industry, will include lessons on mobile phone design, radio frequency and operating systems.
The plan to hold another training program was discussed by MediaTek executives and Ajay Prakash Sawhney, secretary of India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, at a meeting during the Taipei International Electronics Show (TAITRONICS) in October, according to the company.
Kuo expressed hope that the participants will help boost the development of the mobile device industry in India.
