Unlocking opportunities in smart city and infrastructure projects, BIS certification strengthens MIC Electronics’ market position with energy-efficient Made-in-India solutions.
MIC Electronics Limited, an Indian manufacturer of LED lighting and display systems, has obtained Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for its LED street lighting, interactive flat panels, and visual display units.
The approval enhances the company’s credibility and enables participation in central and state government tenders, public sector projects, and select international procurement opportunities.
The certification positions MIC to expand in India’s rapidly growing LED street lighting market, valued at USD 580 million, and the USD 1 billion interactive display segment. The company’s Made-in-India products offer up to 60% energy savings and are already deployed in large-scale projects for Indian Railways, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. Every 10,000 MIC LED streetlights save an estimated 2.6–2.9 GWh of electricity annually, cutting CO₂ emissions by over 2,300 tonnes.
“For us, BIS certification is more than a milestone as it also helps in establishing credibility,” said Rakshit Mathur, CEO of MIC Electronics. “It assures our customers of quality and superior performance while giving us a competitive edge in high-value government and Smart City projects. As a proudly Made-in-India company, we look forward to delivering solutions that can meet global standards.”
MIC Electronics is expanding its operations through 100,000 sq. ft. BIS and ISO-certified facility in Hyderabad, featuring surface-mount technology (SMT) manufacturing lines. The company plans to introduce higher-precision LED modules, brighter outdoor displays, and undertake collaborative projects with advertising technology agencies and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors to drive India’s next phase of smart infrastructure development.
