Recently, Union minister, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Farooq Abdullah paid a visit to Chile. He had a meeting with Chilean Energy Minister, Jorge Bunster, where he made an offer to arrange for training slots in India to Chilean scientists, engineers and technicians through the Indian Technical And Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme.

According to a statement issued by the Press Information Bureau, the Union Minister stressed on the fact that India is interested in a serious and meaningful cooperation with the whole Latin American region, especially Chile with regard to renewable energy in addition to making an offer of all possible assistance.
