MosChip Technologies Limited has announced the appointment of Mr. Srinivasa Rao Kakumanu, popularly known as “KS,” as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD). He has nearly three decades of experience in the semiconductor and embedded industry. He has been promoted from his previous role as the Executive Vice President of the semiconductor business unit.
Under KS’s leadership, the semiconductor business unit achieved remarkable growth, expanding from a team of 200+ engineers with a revenue of approximately 25+ crores in FY19 to a formidable force of 800+ engineers, generating a revenue of more than 200 crores. This growth underscores his exceptional leadership and strategic vision within the company. The Board of Directors has expressed confidence in KS’s ability to provide strong leadership and drive innovation, ensuring the company’s continued position as an industry leader. His extensive semiconductor industry background, including co-founding First Pass Semiconductors Pvt Ltd, a prominent VLSI design services organisation, further solidifies his qualifications for this role.
Before joining MosChip, KS was pivotal in leading numerous ASIC tape-outs across various sectors, including Communication, Networking, Consumer, and Computing. He co-founded First Pass, which grew significantly before being acquired by the company in July 2018. Following the acquisition, he took charge of the Semiconductor Business Unit, leading it to substantial growth and success.
KS’s professional journey also includes serving as General Manager for the VLSI group at Cyient, with a diverse career spanning organisations like TTM Inc., Ikanos Communications, QualCore Logic Ltd, and HAL. His commitment to education is evident through his active role in teaching Digital Design and Physical Design at MosChip Institute of Silicon Systems Pvt Ltd. His international experience, gained during a seven-year tenure in the United States between 2000 and 2007, adds depth to his expertise. KS holds a B.E. degree in E.C.E from the University College of Engineering, Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. The company thanked Venkata Sudhakar Simhadri for his contributions as CEO & MD and announced that he will continue advising the company.
