Monday, December 29, 2014: Within the next five years, the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) will set up 10 incubation centres to encourage self-employment and develop entrepreneurships in Tamil Nadu. According to the Union Mister for MSME, Kalraj Mishra, these centres will assist in exploring the untapped talent of individual innovators, thereby helping them to become technology based entrepreneurs.
While inaugurating SOUMEX 2014, the three-day long sourcing and manufacturing exhibition organised by National Small Industries Corporation and Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association, he told a media person that under this plan, for instance, the centre will buy expensive design software and rent it to MSME at a nominal fee.
While the first incubation centre will be placed in Chennai and rest will be set up after consulting the State government. The government will help in arranging the campus to come up with these projects.
The main motive behind the project is to promote technological and knowledge-based innovative ventures, which will involve fostering of ideas from professionals beyond the traditional set up of MSMEs. He noted that the centre will also assist in building networks and shaping links with other constituents of innovation chain to foster their development.
