NVIDIA And Microsoft Invest $15 Billion In Anthropic

Doubling down on AI innovation, NVIDIA and Microsoft commit a combined $15 billion to bolster Anthropic’s growth.

NVIDIA and Microsoft have announced a combined investment of up to $15 billion in Anthropic, signaling a major escalation in the race to dominate generative artificial intelligence. NVIDIA will commit as much as $10 billion while Microsoft, which is already a major backer of OpenAI, will invest up to $5 billion in the developer of the Claude family of AI models.

The funding is part of a broader agreement that requires Anthropic to purchase $30 billion worth of Microsoft cloud capacity and adopt NVIDIA’s latest chip technologies. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said the deal reflects a growing interdependence between the companies, noting that Microsoft will use Anthropic’s models while Anthropic will rely heavily on Microsoft’s infrastructure.

The fresh backing underscores intensifying competition among AI leaders including OpenAI, Google, Amazon, Meta and xAI, all of which have invested tens of billions in building and training increasingly advanced systems. Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees, Anthropic markets Claude as a safer alternative in the fast evolving generation of chatbots.

NVIDIA’s powerful GPUs remain essential to AI development, and demand for them continues to surge. Still, amid mounting concerns on Wall Street about an AI driven bubble, NVIDIA shares dipped slightly during a wider tech selloff, while Microsoft shares fell about two and a half percent.

The investment reportedly values Anthropic at $350 billion, placing it among the world’s most valuable companies. It follows a series of massive industry deals, including NVIDIA’s planned one hundred billion dollar investment in OpenAI and OpenAI’s recent $38 billion agreement with Amazon’s AWS.
