Accelerating its push for advanced battery tech, Ola Electric brings 4680 Bharat Cell powered scooters to the market.
Ola Electric has begun mass deliveries of its scooters powered by the indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cell, marking a significant milestone for India’s electric mobility sector. The company announced on Sunday that its S1 Pro+ (5.2kWh) is the first model to feature the locally manufactured battery pack, promising increased range, improved performance and enhanced safety. A company spokesperson said customers are now “proudly riding India’s first scooters powered by our own 4680 Bharat Cell,” calling it a major step in India’s ambition to become a global EV hub.
With the rollout, Ola Electric becomes the first Indian company to fully control both battery pack and cell manufacturing in-house. The S1 Pro+ is equipped with a 13 kW motor that accelerates from 0 to 40 kmph in just 2.1 seconds. It offers a certified range of 320 km and features four riding modes like Hyper, Sports, Normal and Eco to cater to diverse riding preferences.
Safety and comfort upgrades include category-first dual ABS, front and rear disc brakes, and improved ergonomics. The scooter features a two-tone seat with supportive foam, body-coloured mirrors, rim decals and a new die-cast aluminium grab handle. Ola has also expanded the colour palette for the model.
The company said the introduction of Bharat Cell-powered scooters represents a major technological step and strengthens India’s push toward self-reliance in advanced EV components.
