Omni Design And EnSilica Expand Partnership For Wireless Communications Solutions

The partnership aims to enable faster, more efficient data transmission and unlock new opportunities in communication technologies.

Omni Design Technologies and EnSilica have announced an expanded partnership to develop advanced wireless communications and digital beamforming applications. Omni Design specializes in high-performance, low-power data acquisition and signal-processing technologies, while EnSilica provides custom ASIC design and supply solutions.

The collaboration centers on the integration of multi-gigahertz Swift data converters and related cores into the company’s turnkey ASIC solutions. These data converters, such as 12-bit 8+ GSPS models, are compatible with process nodes including 16nm and 7nm technology. Additionally, the partnership includes the use of OmniTRUST platform’s process, voltage, and temperature monitors.  The expanded partnership underscores a strategic focus on enabling advanced technological solutions in wireless communications, with both companies poised to leverage their combined expertise to meet the growing demands of the sector.

Omni Design’s President and CEO, Dr. Kush Gulati, highlighted the significance of the partnership, emphasizing EnSilica’s expertise in delivering turnkey ASIC solutions that incorporate Omni Design’s high-performance products. He also noted that the combination of Omni Design’s Swift™ data converters with EnSilica’s capabilities enables faster, more efficient, and precise data transmission in wireless communications.

EnSilica CEO Ian Lankshear echoed this sentiment, pointing to Omni Design’s Swift™ data converter IP as among the most advanced in the industry, particularly in terms of its use of the FinFET platform. He added that EnSilica’s expertise in chip and IP specification, custom RF front ends, mixed-signal design, and modem technologies complements Omni Design’s offerings, enabling the creation of sophisticated communication and positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) systems. Lankshear also mentioned the potential for new joint opportunities with customers to develop cutting-edge products.
