Leading BEL’s major defence programmes to success, Kamesh Kasana now takes charge as Director (Other Units), aiming to transform its units into future-ready tech hubs.
Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has named Mr Kamesh Kasana as the Director (Other Units). Prior to this role, he was the General Manager and Head of the Military Communication Strategic Business Unit (SBU) at BEL’s Bengaluru complex.
With over 30 years at BEL, Mr Kasana brings expertise in Defence electronics, having led several critical programmes across the Army, Navy, and other services. His experience spans system design, project execution, and strategic leadership.
Furthermore, he has overseen programmes such as the Army’s Akashteer air defence system and battlefield surveillance networks, along with advanced C4I systems for naval platforms.
According to BEL, his efforts have supported the Navratna Defence public sector undertaking (PSU) in securing major contracts while boosting indigenisation, cost efficiency, and partnerships with MSMEs and startups.
During his tenure as GM of the Military Communication SBU, BEL achieved turnovers exceeding ₹10 billion for two successive years.
In his new role, Mr Kasana plans to transform BEL’s other units into hubs of innovation and resilience. His priorities include advancing technologies in AI, autonomous systems, space, and quantum computing.
With this, he aims to strengthen collaborations across the Defence and space ecosystem, and enhancing BEL’s sustainability initiatives.
An engineering graduate from NIT Kurukshetra, Mr Kasana also holds a postgraduate diploma in Business Administration and professional certifications in Six Sigma and Project Management.
