To lead AI-driven semiconductor operations, industry veteran KC Ang has joined Tata Electronics as the President and Head of its semiconductor branch.
Tata Electronics has appointed Kay Chai (KC) Ang as President and Head of its foundry business, Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing Private Limited. He will report to Dr Randhir Thakur, CEO and MD of Tata Electronics.
In this new role, KC Ang is set to lead Tata Electronics’ AI-driven semiconductor manufacturing operations and drive innovation. He will also look after partnerships to establish Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing as a global leader in chip production.
An industry veteran, Ang brings over 30 years of experience in the foundry sector, specialising in fab start-up, management, operations, technology transfer, and building industry relationships.
His career spans several countries, including Malaysia, Germany, the USA, and China. Prior to this role, he was President of Asia and Chairman of China at Global Foundries, where he worked for over 15 years.
A Malaysian native, Ang holds a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from National Taiwan University and a master’s in engineering from the University of Texas.
Dr Randhir Thakur welcomed Ang to the team, praising his vast industry knowledge and expertise. He emphasised that Ang’s leadership will be crucial in advancing operations at Tata Electronics’ Dholera Fab and strengthening ties with customers and partners.
KC Ang expressed his excitement at joining Tata Electronics, noting the tremendous potential of India’s semiconductor manufacturing sector. He aims to leverage his experience to propel Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing to global prominence.
