With 30 years of semiconductor expertise, Rajesh Krishnan takes the helm at Samsung Semiconductor India, steering innovation in AI, memory, and global technology leadership.
Samsung Semiconductor India Research (SSIR) has appointed Rajesh Krishnan as its new Managing Director. He succeeds Balajee Sowrirajan, who is credited with significant contributions to SSIR’s expansion and success in the global semiconductor ecosystem.
Rajesh brings over 30 years of leadership experience in the semiconductor industry. His career spans strategic planning, building high-performance teams, and driving growth across diverse technology domains.
The company stated that with professional stints in both India and the United States, he has developed deep expertise in global operations, business transformation and advanced semiconductor innovation. He will now lead efforts to strengthen India’s role in Samsung’s global roadmap.
At SSIR, Rajesh most recently headed the Memory Division. For more than two decades, he has overseen the development of next-generation storage and memory solutions. His work has supported a wide range of applications, from embedded and server products to automotive-grade systems. His leadership has also advanced technologies in DDR and HBM, which are central to accelerating AI workloads.
Beyond memory, Rajesh has worked in computer architecture, compiler design and telecommunications. His contributions include projects in mobile, network and satellite systems.
Commenting on the appointment, SSIR highlighted Rajesh’s track record in innovation and his ability to align India’s engineering talent with Samsung’s global research priorities.
The company stated that his leadership will play a key role in advancing technologies critical to emerging markets such as AI, high-performance computing and next-generation memory.
