- EESL came out as the qualified bidder for setting up about 600 charging stations
- No private sector company qualified for the orders
According to a report by Economic Times, state-owned Rajasthan Electronics & Instruments Ltd (REIL) and Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) have bagged a big chunk of orders to set up more than 2,500 e-vehicle charging stations in around 90 cities in the country. The report also said that no private sector company has qualified for the orders.
As per the report, sources told the Economic Times that about 50 bids were received from private companies for tenders under the second phase of Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles in India (Fame-II) scheme. The companies could not qualify as they had to bid through nominated agencies for the states.
NTPC is likely to get contracts for 200 charging stations
The report said that EESL came out as the qualified bidder for setting up about 600 charging stations and REIL bagged 1,000 tenders. The report added that NTPC is likely to get contracts for 200 charging stations and PowerGrid may get contracts for 10 charging stations. A senior EESL official told Economic Times that the company will set up charging stations in about a dozen cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Noida and Chandigarh
