Saankhya Labs Launches Pruthivi 3, India’s First indigenous Next-Gen SoC

Saankhya Labs, a communications solutions company based in Bangalore, today introduced the world’s first and most advanced multi-standard next-generation system-on-chip (SoC) Pruthvi 3, a fully programmable multi-standard chipset that supports next-generation broadcast standards.

Pruthvi-3 offers a variety of package options (SL3000 and SL4000) for live TV on mobile devices and video offload services from mobile to broadcast networks. Pruthvi 3 can be used for defense, railway and other telecommunications purposes.

The latest chip is an improvement over the previous Pruthvi chip that was launched in 2015. The Pruthvi-3 is an advanced SDR SoC manufactured in 28nm FDSOI process supporting advanced Physical Layer functionality. The Mobile ready version is a first-of-its-kind that supports most advanced IP based Next Gen Terrestrial TV reception.

At the chipset launch event chief guest Manoj Sinha, minister of state for communications, said, ”I am very privileged to launch “Pruthvi-3″, convergence chipsets for mobile and broadcasting, developed by Saankhya Labs. This well help us acquire convergence.”

Amitabh Kant, CEO Niti Aayog, said that this is a very commendable achievement, and this will propel not only Saankhya Labs, but will propel India into the global arena. He further commented that it’s a major milestone for India’s semiconductor and hardware industry for this make will make India self-reliant in communications technology in the long run, as well as contribute to global telecom IPR.

Co-Founder and CEO of Saankhya Labs, Parag Naik, said that indigenously designed and developed by Saankhya Labs, the Pruthvi-3 family of processors are designed to drive the next generation communications architecture required in the ‘Convergence era’ of broadcast and broadband infrastructure. He notified that powered by their award-winning, patented Software Defined Radio (SDR) architecture, the SL-30xx and SL-40xx can support worldwide broadcast communication standards and targeted for use in the Mobile, UHDTV, STB, IoT and in-vehicle entertainment.

Saankhya Labs is also working on its broadcast broadband convergence solution. The solution enables telecommunications service providers to offload video traffic from their mobile networks to the broadcast network.
