SECI Floats Fresh Tender To Appoint Trading Partner For Untied Renewable Power

Interested bidders must submit a non-refundable bid processing fee of Rs 25,000 plus applicable GST

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has floated a fresh tender to appoint a Power Trading Licensee (PTL) for monetising renewable power available from its existing and upcoming portfolio, nearly a month after cancelling its 1,000 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) tender.

SECI has invited bids from experienced and financially sound trading licensees to procure and trade renewable energy generated from projects already tied up under its long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), as well as capacity that remains untied. The initial arrangement will be valid for three years, with an option to extend it by one year subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement. Bids can be submitted until September 7, 2026.

The tender covers projects where buying entities have not yet commenced power offtake, projects with untied capacity, and renewable power generated from SECI-owned renewable energy and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assets where offtake has not yet begun. SECI will execute a Power Trading Agreement (PTA), Power Sale Agreement (PSA), or other appropriate agreements with the selected bidder based on the availability of power from renewable projects covered under its long-term PPAs.

For projects where long-term PPAs have been signed with developers but no corresponding PSA has been executed with a DISCOM or other buying entity, SECI may sign 25-year PSAs with the selected PTL.

SECI has also indicated that it may explore joint development of solar, wind, hybrid, FDRE, round-the-clock (RTC), grid-scale BESS, and pumped storage projects with the selected trading partner through Joint Ventures or Special Purpose Vehicles, with a minimum 26% equity participation by the PTL.

Interested bidders must submit a non-refundable bid processing fee of Rs 25,000 plus applicable GST through NEFT or RTGS to become eligible for participation.
