The energy company aims to bring charging solutions to fuel stations, standalone EV hubs and homes
With its plan to set up over 10,000 charging points in the country by 2030, Shell India recently unveiled its first electric vehicle (EV) chargers in Bengaluru. These chargers are meant both for four-wheelers as well as two-wheelers. The company claims that 100% green energy is used to power its latest chargers.
These chargers will be accessible through the ‘Shell Recharge India’ app, which is commonly available. The app helps in locating the nearest available charger, choosing a desirable charging method (by unit, time or by percentage), checking real-time charging status, and making hassle-free payments.
The official statement explains that Shell Recharge Stations are a way to provide safe, green, and integrated mobility solutions to its customers. India is its first market to launch chargers meant for two-wheelers.
During the launch, Director of Shell Mobility, India, Sanjay Varkey stated: “Being a solution-driven and customer-centric organization, we have developed a world-class offering for the electric-mobility customers drawing upon our global expertise and capabilities. He further added, “We are excited to contribute to the electrification of mobility in India by rolling out the Shell Recharge network and look forward to serve the rapidly evolving needs of our customers.”
The Road Ahead
As per the company statement, it will first expand stations in Bengaluru across its fuel stations situated in Yeshwantpur, Marathalli, Old Madras Road, Brookefield and Kanakpura. Later on, its infrastructure will reach beyond its existing retail markets. Shell aims to cater customized charging solutions at on-the-go locations such as Shell fuel stations, standalone EV hubs, home charging and destination locations.
