Wednesday, December 31, 2014: Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVNL), a public sector company which owns and operates India’s largest hydropower project has inked a pact with Hindustan Salt Ltd on Tuesday to set up ultra mega hybrid renewable energy park in Gujarat.
The park will be established on the land of Hindustan Salt Ltd in Kharaghoda which stores solar power generation capacity of over 3500MW to 4200MW and wind power of over 600 to 800MW.
The MoU was signed by R P Singh, chief managing director at SJVNL and A K Jain, Hindustan Salt Ltd chief managing director. Singh has told that SJVNL is already in process of establishing a 5 MW solar project in the Charnka Solar Park in Gujarat. The project would be set up in 100,033 sq m area given by Gujarat Power Development Corporation Ltd. The project would be capable of generating 8.10 million units of solar energy.
SJVNL looks after India’s largest 1500MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station and 412MW Rampur Hydro Power Station, in Himachal Pradesh. It has also established itself in the field of wind energy with the development of 47.6 MW Khirvire Wind Power Project in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra.
