The ‘Smart City’ is a relatively new concept for Indians, but in China, this idea has already attained maturity. This has presented Indian cities with a chance to adopt smart city solutions that have already been tried and tested across China, a country with similar socio-economic conditions and population densities. For Chinese electronics players, the nascent Indian smart city market offers vast opportunities for expansion.
ASAPP Info Global Group and the India China Economic and Cultural Council, in partnership with the Smart Cities Council India, recently organised the fourth edition of the Smart City Summit in New Delhi. Over 1,500 global and national policymakers, financiers and technologists came together to streamline the execution plans of the Smart City concept in India.
Amongst the global players, Chinese firms showed keen interest in financing the implementation of their innovative solutions for our smart cities. This is because services that are currently catering to smart cities in China can be easily implemented in India in the future, with a little customisation.
Amanda Fan Hongjun, the general manager of the leading gas sensor manufacturing company, Henan Hanwei Electronics Co. Ltd, aims to provide smart gas detection solutions in the future smart homes across India. She says, “Our company initiated business relationships in India 10 years ago. We are the only listed company in China for gas detection systems. We offer matured solutions in city gas detection and security systems. We feel that our matured concept will find the most acceptance in the Indian market, compared to other markets across the world.”
