2013 could see the rising of solar power energy in India. Moving on from states like Gujarat, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu, the focus seems to have shifted to the top with remote villages in Jammu and Kashmir targeted as the next solar-powered hub in the country. A company called Solid Solar, which manufactures lights, has decided to aid villages in J&K with power from solar energy.
The company has already provided some solar-based home lighting systems, street lights and solar lanterns to remote villages in the state, a company statement said. “For last five years, use of solar lanterns and solar home lighting system backed by easy financing by J&K Bank has emerged as one of the most reliable, affordable and healthy alternative to conventional electricity in the region,” the statement reads.
Solid Solar aims at empowering rural India with access to electricity through affordable lighting solutions, thereby improving the off-grid power scenario in the country. “Our entire product range including innovative solar lamps, solar based street lights and solar home systems is aimed at providing affordable solution to villages lying in such off grid areas. With easy financing offered by J&K Bank, we are motivated to go further and reach out to many more,” said Shubhra Mohanka, director, Solid Solar.
The effort is being ably supported by J&K Bank, which is offering easy financing on solar lights, solar street lights and solar home lighting systems to village level users.
