- Taiwan will share its semiconductor experience to help Slovakia
- Taiwan and Slovakia have collaborated on various initiatives
Taiwan has recently signed a contract with Slovakia’s educational establishment and research agency to build a semiconductor laboratory.
Through this deal, both countries’ experts will share thoughts on technology and cooperate on technology development. Taiwan will share its semiconductor experience to help Slovakia build its semiconductor capabilities.
The agreement has been signed by David Lee, Taiwan’s representative to Slovakia. Oliver Moravcik, rector of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STUBA), and Vladimir Cambel, director of the Slovak Academy of Science (SAS) Institute of Electrical Engineering, were present for Slovakia.
“Taiwan and Slovakia are like-minded partners, and through the agreement, Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute will work closely with STUBA and SAS to jointly build a national semiconductor laboratory for Slovakia”, said Lee.
In addition, the office will continue to promote semiconductor scholarships to have Slovak experts and students visit Taiwan to help strengthen the Eastern European country’s capacity in the field, Lee said.
Moravcik said semiconductor technologies are crucial to both the European Union and Slovakia, and he hoped the collaboration could open up other opportunities to work with Taiwan.
Since the start of this year, Taiwan and Slovakia have collaborated on various initiatives. This includes an investment through the Central and Eastern European Investment Fund and the signing of MOUs in June pertaining to healthcare and cultural cooperation.
