As per various media reports, a top official has said that Tata Power is planning to expand its network of EV charging stations to 700 by next year. It has already installed 100 fast-charging stations in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Hyderabad. It plans to take this number to 300 by March 2020.
Home charging and public charging
Praveer Sinha, managing director of the company said that it is mapping the locations where EVs are launched and will be setting up charging stations in those cities. He added that the company will create infrastructure for home charging and public charging at metro stations, shopping malls, theatres, and highways. Tata Power is already in talks with metro rail authorities and municipal corporations for setting up EV charging stations.
Charging stations at Tata Group-owned outlets
The company will also set up charging stations at Tata Group-owned outlets like Chroma, WestSide, Titan watch showroom, and Indian Hotels. It has also signed MoUs for setting up commercial EV charging stations at HPCL, IOCL, and IGL retail outlets. Reports added that in Mumbai, the company has already set up 30 stations. It aims to increase that to 200 by next year.
