This alliance is crucial to building a digitally skilled, energy-smart workforce, reinforcing India’s green growth and sustainable development goals.
Tata Power and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) have announced a strategic partnership to enhance workforce readiness in India’s power sector. The collaboration will focus on skilling youth in green energy, power transmission, and distribution, ensuring industry-aligned, job-oriented training.
Under this initiative, Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI) will serve as NSDC’s training partner, delivering hands-on courses tailored to the evolving energy landscape. With an emphasis on practical learning, these programs will equip trainees with in-demand skills aligned with India’s clean energy transition and net-zero targets.
TPSDI has already trained over three lakh individuals, addressing critical skill gaps in the power sector. Building on this success, Tata Power aims to expand TPSDI’s reach by establishing new training centers beyond its existing 11 locations, ensuring broader access to vocational education. The partnership will also introduce training in emerging domains like energy storage, green hydrogen, and pumped hydro, catering to India’s fast-growing renewable energy sector. These programs will strengthen the talent pipeline, accelerating India’s clean energy ambitions.
The agreement was formalized at TPSDI-Shahad during the Institute’s Annual Meet. Key officials present included Mr. Nitin Kapoor, Vice President, NSDC Academy, and Mr. Alok Prasad, Head – TPSDI, along with senior dignitaries from Tata Power and NSDC.
Mr. Himal Tewari, CHRO & Chief – Sustainability & CSR, Tata Power, stated, “Our partnership with NSDC reaffirms our commitment to creating a future-ready workforce. TPSDI has already trained over three lakh individuals, and we aim to expand its reach to support India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.”
Mr. Nitin Kapoor, Vice President, NSDC Academy, added, “This collaboration with TPSDI marks a key milestone in skill development. Tata Power’s expertise will help upskill professionals, ensuring they stay relevant in a rapidly evolving energy sector.”
