As per a report by the Financial Times, Tesla Inc is teaming up with Paris-based independent energy producer Neoen SA to set up a massive lithium-ion battery site in Australia. It added that Neoen will be responsible for handling the grid’s system integrity. The battery plant could be operational sometime towards the end of 2021. The 300-megawatt Victorian Big Battery plant will be located in Geelong city in Victoria.
Support the network grids during Australia’s extreme summers
It added that the move works well with Australia’s renewable energy targets. The government is aiming at 50 per cent power generation from renewable sources by 2030. Energy Minister for the Victorian State, Lily D’Ambrosio, told Bloomberg that the project would not only support the economy with reduced energy prices and increased jobs but also support the network grids during Australia’s extreme summers.
Recently, Tesla’s chief executive officer Elon Musk said that Tesla will enter Indian market in 2021. He said this while replying to a Twitter query and said that Tesla will enter India “next year for sure”.
He was asked by a Tesla fan club, Tesla Club India if he could give some idea about the company’s plan to enter the Indian market. There are also reports that Tesla has held discussions with the Karnataka government for possible investments for a research facility in Bengaluru. It is expected that there will be another meeting soon in which the government officials are likely to present a proposal to Tesla.
