Texas Instruments Incorporated has launched — TPS92210, a single stage LED lighting pulse width modulation (PWM) controller, which can support general lighting applications.
Features and USP: The TRIAC-dimmable solution can regulate the LED current and achieve a near unity power factor. Its reference design can achieve 85 per cent efficiency, which enables high density and small form factor designs. The TPS92210 is designed for general lighting applications, such as commercial and residential recessed, troffer, light bulb replacement, architectural and display lighting. Its key features include flexible operation modes such as peak primary current, constant on-time and frequency modulation. Its cascoded MOSFET configuration results in 10 per cent lower switching losses with fast and easy high voltage start-up compared to other devices. Its multiple protection features such as over-voltage protection without optocouplers, thermal shutdown option and advanced over current, lets it safely shut down the system if fault conditions exist. It also provides programmable fault response, full shutdown and shutdown restart which brings added flexibility for fault response.
