Uniline empowers schools and e-courts with uninterrupted power

India has largely been a power deficient country, with the demand during peak hours far outstripping the power available. Though power generation has almost doubled in the last decade, it has not kept pace with the growth in demand. However, the power crisis in the country is helping the growth of the UPS market.

Sunday, June 12, 2011: The government sector and educational institutions have their own set of challenges when it comes to coping with the power crisis. No industry, office or institution can afford to ignore the power crises as all modern offices are going in for automation. The government and education sectors also feel the need for a computer literate workforce and student community and, hence, they have been actively spreading the use of computers in a big way with the aim of lowering costs, improving efficiency and providing better services to citizens.

The government, ITES, BPO and education sectors are witnessing a substantial increase in the use of computers, printers, scanners, etc, thereby causing a significant growth for the UPS market.

With the rise in demand for UPS systems for servers and for the protection of computers across the government sector, power electronics firms are now focusing on these sectors. “We are more focused on government and educational sectors, and do good business in these domains,” states RK Bansal, general secretary, All India UPS Manufacturers Association and managing director, Uniline Energy Systems.

Under various state government led Rajya Shiksha Yojna and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan educational infra projects, Uniline, one of the leading UPS manufacturing enterprises in the country, bagged a project to offer power backup solutions to more than 30,000 primary and higher secondary schools across Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Rajasthan and Maharashtra, to ensure power for up to 12 hours.

RK Bansal reports that the company had earlier commissioned more than 100,000 UPS systems for various state projects in Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Karnataka.

Uniline has also commissioned the government’s e-court project, empowering and connecting the Supreme Court with the High Courts of all the states with uninterrupted power supply, speeding up operations and trials.

The third project that the company has bagged is to provide power solutions to the Indian Air Force for its AF Net Project. This involves the private operative spectrum linking air force stations all over India and other important strategic locations. To address the challenges of erratic power conditions, Uniline has deployed more than 4500 UPS units, which can be duly monitored from a single location for security purposes.

The company will soon venture into a technological alliance with an international player.
