Microsoft has advised its users not to install version 1809 update of Windows 10 due to problems resulting in auto deletion of documents after the same
Microsoft Windows 10 users have reported auto deleting of documents immediately after they updated the operating software with updates rolled out at Microsoft’s Surface event last week. The technology giant, on its support website for Windows updates has said, “We have paused the roll out of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809) for all users as we investigate isolated reports of users missing some files after updating.”
Windows users who are experiencing missing files issues following the last Windows 10 update are being asked to contact the telephone numbers provided on the website for support, and are also advised to minimise the use of affected devices by Microsoft.
Windows platforms affected
The list of affected Microsoft platforms includes Windows 10 version 1809, Windows Server version 1809, Windows 10 IoT Core version 1809 and Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2019and Windows Server 2019.
Those who have manually downloaded the updates are being requested by Microsoft to not install the same until the software company comes up with a new media. The company is yet to come up with an explanation detailing the causes behind the glitch.
Number of Microsoft Windows users affected
The number of Windows 10 users affected by the faulty OS update is still not clear. However, it is interesting to note here that Windows 10 is one of the most used operating software around the world. It is used both by business houses and homes, and this error may affect productivity of these verticals in one way or the another.
Microsoft, earlier this year had delayed April 2018 update of Windows 10 before it was rolled out for customers over ‘Blue Screen of Death’ issues. The issue was first fixed in trial phase and was then put up on the website for downloads and updates.
